Our Roots Run Deep
In the heart of Forest, VA, Poplar Forest Nursery began as Doug Arthur's vision in 1989—a vision to cultivate a space where plants and community could thrive together. With dedication and a deep understanding of horticulture, Doug transformed a passion for greenery into the area's most beloved nursery.
For over three decades, we've been nurturing plants and relationships alike. Proudly growing 95% of our plants, we ensure that every seedling, shrub, and tree meets our high standards of quality and sustainability.
The nursery has since flourished under the green thumb of the second generation, Brandon Arthur. With the same soil under his nails and legacy in his heart, Brandon has expanded our reach and services since taking the helm in 2022.

Doug and crew are awesome. From helping me figure the design and talking me through options, to keeping it real so we could make logical decisions for the property we have and what we want to do (for the immediate and long term landscape). They built us two excellent retaining walls that allowed for a porch and extension of property for a proper backyard and side yard instead of the steep slopes we were dealing with. They also took care to ensure we had drainage away from house, concrete poured for our new patio and sidewalk, reseeded grass, fountain and clearance for a trampoline. Highly recommend if you want top quality landscaping and nursery products.

A wonderful nursery, probably my favorite in a long time. As a sort of green thumb plant expert the packaging, presentation and expertise of how the nursery is put together is awesome. The plants come in various sizes and the staff is knowledgeable. You can walk through it as a park like experience. We will be back again! They are closed mondays and Tuesdays. -

Absolutely amazing establishment. The lady working when I visited was so polite and knowledgeable. This is by far the best greenhouse around, and this is coming from someone that has worked in a greenhouse and also been a head floral designer. The plants were taken very good care of and there was such a wide variety of plants. I appreciate that they are even open to offer plants that most greenhouses or florists aren’t. 100000000% recommend

This place is the best nursery in the area hands down. It doesn't look like the sculpted tiny nurseries in the area but this place has EVERY tree you could possibly want as well as all the landscaping plants you could possibly want. I met the owner and he's a cool dude too. I'd say if you wind up here looking for plants, you've come to the right place. I will never go looking for a tree or plant anywhere else since I wound up here. Come to Eden and get you something for your yard.

Great staff, lots of wonderful plants at Popular Forest nursery. We bought a weeping cherry there a few years ago and it died. Without even contacting this nursery they automatically replaced it. We came home to a new weeping cherry tree one day. I've never had any other nursery in this area do this for us.
